Do you know what brightens anyone’s day? That’s right, puppies!

Freedom Dog Rescue stopped by with the most adorable friends for our Residents to say hi to.

This will be a regular activity on our calendar from now on. Everyone had so much fun and was so sad when they left.

We wouldn’t be able to do all of the wonderful things we do without our fantastic team!

We said it’s time to celebrate them! The festivities started on Monday with donuts. Donut think we don’t care about you. You mean a hole lot to us!

Tuesday, Mr. Sundae stopped by for some soft serve ice cream!

Wednesday, we had a pizza party! You have a pizza in our hearts; we kneed you!

Thursday nacho bar!

Finally, Friday, we had a staff and resident BBQ with YOW Popcorn, and Freedom Dog Rescue came with some puppies for everyone to play with.

May 9 – 13th was Nurses Week. At Manotick Place, we decided to have a high tea for all of our past and present nurses.

The table was filled with scones, cucumber sandwiches, brownies, jams, and many other goodies. We started the tea by reciting the Florence Nightingale Pledge; most women made this pledge when they first became nurses. People brought their graduation photos, pins, caps and capes. It was great to sit around and reminisce on the good old days.

Terri Ann, our Director of Care, joined us and got to catch up with everyone. While chatting, some people even realized that they used to work together and had no idea that they were living in the same community.

We want to say an extra special thank you to all of our nurses and PSWs. We have an incredible team at Manotick Place. Our team is always ready to help with anything and everything and does it with a positive attitude. Thank you for all you do; we couldn’t do it without you!

We celebrated with an extensive brunch, lots of family, friends, laughter and love.

Another month has come and gone, so it is time for another end of the month’s Birthday Party! Happy Birthday to everyone that celebrated in April!

This month we went on a safari! We kicked off the party with some friends visiting us. Little Rays Reptiles came with lots of animals. They did a whole presentation, and some of our residents even got to touch a few of the animals. It was such a fun experience and for sure won’t be forgotten!

After the presentation, we headed into the jungle (our dining room) for dinner! Everyone hopped in the Manotick-PL Jeep to look at some monkeys, giraffes and zebras.

We are so excited to have events back at Manotick Place!

On April 22nd, we hosted a Pie Bingo in our Multi-Purpose Room. April 22nd was international pie day, so we celebrated with this charity bingo game. We haven’t been able to have the community join us in so long, and it was great to see everyone.

We had two special guests for this event. Liam Maguire and Stuntman Stu joined us to call some games. Both of them were great! Liam gave us a sports fact for every number he pulled; everyone joined in and had a great time.

We raised $455.50 for Parkinson’s, and we are so thankful to everyone that came to play. We would not have been able to present this without you.

We had a Maple Fest Open House on April 6th. We had a day jam-packed with activities and fun.

The morning started with Alison Kelly-Quesnel from Quesnel Maple coming in and doing a seminar on maple syrup downstairs in our theatre. After the workshop, she stayed to sell some of her syrup. We made some maple taffy with it and enjoyed some music from a swing bridge jazz band.

For lunch, we had pancakes and sausages with Alison’s maple syrup. There was a stunning backdrop in the dining room, and we took some great pictures in front.

After lunch, we had a fiddler come in. We danced and sang along to his tunes. If we didn’t had a busy enough day we finished it off with some maple martinis

We travelled to the South Pacific for a night for this month’s birthday party!

We had an evening filled with music, fruity drinks, a delicious dinner, great company, and enough laughs to last a lifetime. It was so lovely to see everyone dressed up and having fun.

This past January our very own Manotick Place Retirement was featured in the movie Candy Cane Christmas which premiered Saturday July 18th on the W Network.

Manotick Place Retirement was the featured location for the big picture film and for those of you that missed it, you can now stream the film through the Global TV app.

We had a fun day here at Manotick Place last Thursday where we hosted a strawberry social for our community members!

Despite the rain and event looking a little different this year, everyone had a blast with strawberry daquiris, strawberry bubbly, lots of desserts and to top it off, dancing in the rain!
